There’s a free new outdoor fitness court in Kiwanis Park in Ottawa. The city held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday. Commissioner Marla Pearson says the city received a $50,000 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and the National Fitness Campaign to install the court. The court has seven different areas to do exercises like lunges, core workouts, and agility. Members from CrossFit 350 in Ottawa also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to demonstrate how the equipment can be used. Sarah Nanouski with CrossFit 350 says anyone would be able to get a good workout at the new fitness court. She says it would also be great for families.
Pearson says the new Fitness Court in Kiwanis Park is a great addition to the city. She says the south side has been neglected when it comes to parks and recreation.
If you don’t have a trainer or a group of people to workout with there is an app called Fitness Court that people can download that has guided training on how to use the equipment.
