Tigers Travel to Temple in Sunday Showdown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following their first American Athletic Conference win of the season, the Memphis Tiger women’s soccer team will head north to take on Temple on Sunday afternoon.
 
Memphis (5-4-4, 1-1-3 AAC) dominated in their most recent conference outing, taking down East Carolina 4-0 behind three first-half goals from Jocelyn AlonzoMya Jones and Haylee Spray. Along with an offensive surge, the Tiger defense held down the backline – allowing just three ECU shots the entire match.
 
Jones leads the team with five goals while Alonzo has recorded three goals and five assists. Nine other Memphis players have recorded goals this year while eight have notched assists. Claire Wyville continues to be the go-to for Memphis in goal, recording 16 saves in 630 minutes of work. She currently ranks in the top-5 in the AAC with her goals-against average (0.857) and shutouts (4).
 
Temple (1-7-4, 0-4 AAC) is coming off a second consecutive loss after being shutout by UCF and facing a 3-1 defeat to Cincinnati.
 
Kathryn Coritz and Carly Steinburg lead the team with two goals each while Kyla Burns has spent the majority of the season in goal for the Owls. 
 
The Tigers have recorded wins over Temple in the last six match-ups with the most recent being a 4-0 shutout by Memphis last season. After Kimberley Smit recorded a goal in the 32′, Alonzo, Spray and Grace Stordy all recorded second half goals to take the shutout win.
 
Sunday’s match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT start time with coverage available on ESPN+.
