Get your heart pumping at Sam Houston Park through upcoming classes.
“Movement is medicine. When we are up and moving, our body is able to process things differently,” said Hannah Gilbreath, Health Educator.
Two more fitness classes will be offered for free on Saturdays, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29. Both of these classes begin at 10:15 a.m.
“This is part of a bigger program called the reset program. This is an 8-week nutritional health and wellness program taking place at the Warford Activity Center,” Gilbreath said. “This is a way for us to bring fitness into the community and get the word out.”
Saturday will feature yoga in the park.
The Oct. 29 session will be rebound in the park.
Both classes will be offered at Sam Houston Park, located at 4101 Line Ave.
Mats will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring water and wear clothes that you can move in. Orange flags will be placed near the stage area.
“I encourage everyone to give it a try. We have people there who can help with modifications and other staff that can help if a child comes along,” Gilbreath said.
Individuals who want to participate in the 8-week program receive a free two-month membership to the Warford Activity Center, as well as nutritional and fitness classes. The next session’s date has not been announced at this time, but will be posted at the website: www.amarilloparks.org/programs-events/reset .
