LIFT Fitness hosts ‘Power Up for Breast Cancer’

HOLDEN, Mass. – A Central Massachusetts gym is standing up to breast cancer.

LIFT Fitness in Holden hosted Power Up for Breast Cancer on Saturday. Throughout the morning, numerous weight-lifting classes were held to benefit The Breast Friends Connection, a local nonprofit providing support for women both during and after their breast cancer treatment, whether it is gas money for travel, support groups or groceries. There was a total of four strength training classes, all of which had a packed house of participants who donated to the cause.

“I think when we started this last year, one thing my husband and I noticed was just how generous this community is,” said LIFT Fitness owner Jen Chaplin. “They thrive on giving back. I think we all just feel so blessed to be able to move our bodies and be healthy that we want to help other people get healthy as well.”

Saturday’s fundraiser also featured raffles and giveaways, with the proceeds also going to the cause. The goal was $3,000.
